When I moved to Houston the first thing I did was find a worthy non-profit to volunteer my time with, I signed up to redesign their website. What the organization needed was a marketing department, and that became me. Brand, site, social, print, sharepoint intranet, and the calendar that held it together. A show announces, the poster drops, the site page goes up, the social runs, tickets move, and a show program appears. One job, not seven.
Most organizations don’t need a web person. They need someone who can see the whole thing at once instead of being told to buy it in pieces from five different freelancers.
